Ironically, Fritz Beckhardt flew with great distinction in WW1 with a "swastika" as his personal emblem. Known only then as a mystical ancient good luck symbol and only much later desecrated by its adoption by the Nazi party..
This loyal service did not save him and many other German and Austrian jews from persecution in his HOMELAND in the late twenties and thirties, Göring himself having to step in and save several ex colleagues from the concentration camps.
